State Superintendent Candidates Spar Over Common Core

State Superintendent candidates Tony Evers, John Humphries, and Lowell Holtz all issued statements today regarding the Common Core curriculum standards.

Both Humphries and Holtz called for repeal of the standards.

Holtz is calling for the immediate elimination of Common Core and discontinuation of the current Forward exam. Humphries released a statement saying he has a two-year plan to transition from Common Core to new Wisconsin-specific standards.

The Evers campaign criticized Humphries for changing his position on Common Core after previously testifying in favor of the standards.
