The Senate Committee on Education has scheduled a public
hearing for August 17 on the two student data bills that were authored by the
Study Committee on School Data. Assembly Bill 71 and Assembly Bill 72 have
already been passed by the full Assembly.
Assembly Bill 71 requires
DPI to maintain a pupil data inventory and publish it on their website. Assembly
Bill 72 requires the State Superintendent to provide guidance and training to
schools on developing data privacy and security plans.
