The Assembly Urban and Local Affairs Committee will hold a public
hearing on September 8 on Assembly
Bill 269, which would make changes to the way post-retirement benefits are funded for employees of local governments, including school boards. AB 269
prohibits a local government from providing post-retirement
health care benefits to any employee hired on or after January 1, 2016, unless
the cost of the benefit is fully funded in a segregated account.
